Something new I just learned...

Post by skater »

I just learned this about the generator, by accident: it requires 12 volts DC to run, in addition to the 12 volts DC it needs to start.

Here's how I discovered this: I disconnected the coach battery, because I wanted to test the converter without the bad battery installed. Then I started the generator (as part of the monthly maintenance). After playing around a while I shut the breaker for the converter off, which meant there was no 12 volts in the coach system. The generator shut down immediately.

This isn't immediately useful information, but it could be helpful for someone who is troubleshooting a problem.

Update: actually Eagle said this some months ago, in this thread (7th post down).
