Hi all,
Just wondering how many hours can one expect for the 2800 to last. This genny is used in almost all smaller RVs made in North America for a long time, not sure how long. I see a lot of listings for various RVs, not just the 190s with less than 100 hours on the gen even when the RV is 15-20 years old. The max hours I have seen is 435, which really isnt much as some of the old military gennys would still be going strong with 7-8000 hours,,, and yes I know thats a different animal altogether. So, my question is who has some major hours on the 2800 without major repairs. From what I read most of the problems stem from the carbs from non use or sitting too long. If one was parked where shore power was not available and needed the a/c nights, say 12 hours a day, then just one week is 84 hours, so some major hours would add up real quick. How many hours on your genny???? Gary

Good question. The generator on the B190 we sold recently had less than 100 hours. We didn't hesitate to use the generator but we never used it for more than a few hours at a time - not by design, just happened that way.

If I can remember to call the Onan/Cummins dealer next week I'll ask him what he's seen for generator use.
