B190 Enthusiasts

So, I ordered a 16x1.5mm tap, and a Fumoto valve, and they both came in this week. I have some blue Loctite, too. So, I'll drain it, tap it, put the valve in, and then the oil leak issue will be done, I hope. The Fumoto valve will hopefully mean I don't have to touch the threads again for quite some time. I'm hoping to get to it this weekend; we'll see how the weather holds up.

Pulled the old plug today to find this...



So all the concerns about tapping and all were for naught.

I put in the new plug, but it’s still seeping a bit. I had it as tight as I was willing to go, too. I’ll have to check the torque specs on it.

Took it for a drive today of about 15 miles. Still pinging under load, so I’m trying to decide if that’s due to the bad fuel or an ignition problem - maybe the plug wires are rotted out, for example (I wouldn’t think time alone would affect the cap, rotor, and plugs, but who knows).

Looks like you've found the problem glad it's not the pan.
The pinging is probably the bad fuel would be my first guess sounds like you're going to figure it out.

No movement lately on the oil drip, other things have kept me busy. I’d like to move the B190 to another part of the driveway to test the fridge, but I don’t want to do that until I have the oil leak fixed.

I did (for some reason) work on the radio, removing the Sirius tuner and moving the aux in connector to the dashboard area so I can plug in my phone. In light of all of the critical items on the to-do list, this seemed kind of silly, but I wanted to do something that wouldn’t take long.

Fabric for curtains is cut! We’re hoping to sew it while we’re camping this weekend (in the trailer).

I have a Fumoto valve on my bike, love it.

I finally got to spend some quality time with the B190 today!

Plumbing - I’ve replaced the section of pipe with the leak.

Windshield wipers - replaced.

Oil leak - fixed, apparently. It’s not dripping any more - all I really did was run a tap through the threads and make sure it was tight tight tight. I chickened out on retapping it to a larger thread.

Fridge - got it started at 3:30, at 8:30 I opened it to put in a thermometer, and it was already somewhat cold, so that’s a good sign.

Engine - it’s still not running correctly. It seems to be fine for a few minutes, then will start running roughly and stall, then it won’t restart for a few minutes. I took it for a drive, and got stuck along the side of a road for a few minutes. I put 10-11 gallons in the rear tank, so it feels like the bad fuel isn’t the only problem. I replaced the fuel filter (after the test drive, but it was still stalling), and I picked up a distributor cap and rotor for installation.

I’m wondering if there’s a problem with the fuel diverter. Wish I had a fuel pressure gauge!

If yours has twin tanks thats what the symptoms of a bad pump. One of three I bleave one in each tank "lift pump"
And a pump on the line.

Since it’s doing it with both tanks, would that imply the line pump is going?

Cool, thanks. Looks like Rockauto has them starting at $40ish.

Good luck. Check the voltage to the pump also and have someone mess with the switch at the same time. It may be making good contact. One sign of that is fuel gauge acting funny.

Good idea. The fuel gauge hasn’t worked in years, though. But I will check voltage.

Awww, yes! Fridge and freezer temperatures. I’d say the fridge works well! (Thermostat on Max setting.)

Ah. Just now it’s at 58 and 26. That’s not so good. This is basically worst case - hot day, sun beating on that side of the camper, and the coil fan is off.
