Hello,
I was wondering how to best install furring strips to the roof, walls etc
I'm planning on getting the t nuts for the walls and trying to glue stuff to the ceiling.
My main concern is that there is a white coating on the interior of the van which looks like it was applied when it was built. Can I glue to this coating or do I need to remove it entirely? Thanks!

Re: Restoring or rebuilding interior questions
Hi There, I recently redid my interior post total gutjob...I glued strips of plywood to ceiling with construction glue ......used a combination of duct tape and 2x1 firing strips to hold them in place while glue set up...reason for using plywood strips is the They didn’t split when screwed into as regular firing strips seemed to do...any more questions just drop Aline
Have fun

Thanks for the info. I found this awesome sealant adhesive and after testing it on some other parts, used it to glue wood to the top where furring strips weren't already installed. For the walls I used rivnuts and metal screws. Foam board and great stuff is in and I just need to decide what I want on the walls for paneling

Coming in late to this thread...thanks for the photos!
I've taken the ceiling out of the front half of our 190, as we had leaking around the fan and mice had (long ago) made some nests in the pink roll insulation in the ceiling. Now that it's all stripped out, I plan on putting foam board in the "cells" or cavities in the fiberglass roof, as you did.
I'm wondering if your furring strips are at the same level (flush) with the wood strips around the vent hole? And, do you plan on somehow insulating the ceiling in the spots where there is just fiberglass--I'm thinking that the original build used 3.5" pink roll insulation to fill the cells of the roof and insulate the rest of the ceiling, too.
With your build as pictured, if you screwed the ceiling panel to the furring strip, you'd have something like 1/2" to 3/4" of airspace between the ceiling and the fiberglass, correct? If so, did you put insulation there? I'm thinking 1/2" foam board in that gap.
