I need to replace the water pump on my '93

Post by General Mopars »

And I mean the water pump for the freshwater system, not the coolant pump for the engine.

I see several different kinds of pumps listed on ebay. Does anyone know the specs of what I need to order to replace it?

I bought this one for my '94--it's a Jabsco in-line pump model 36400-0000: http://www.westmarine.com/jabsco--pumpg ... 32_003_024

It's not the same model as was original to the van, but it's worked fine these past 4 years since I installed it. Good luck!

OK, as I look at the literature on this thing, it might be only the strainer and not the actual pump. It sits on the floor in the cabinet under the sink, and the old one had frozen and cracked and was leaking. Sorry for the confusion...

The only thing that you really need to do is match the GPM and PSI of the old pump. I recently replaced the water pump in my '93 but I went with a slightly higher GPM to help the on demand hot water heater that I also upgraded. Good news is they are all reasonably priced from $50-$60.

I don't know the PSI and GPM of the old pump. Also, ebay had a few styles listed as "on-demand" which is what I'd assume they are, but I'm sot certain.

The GPM and PSI should be listed on the metal plate on the pump.

Sorry, let me try again to answer the question that you asked instead of the one I thought I heard :D . The Shurflo pump in my '94 is the model 2088-403-144. It's been discontinued. I wrote to Shurflo, and just got this reply:

Thanks for your inquiry. Model 2088-403-144 has been replaced by model 4008-101-E65 and is available from local RV Dealers.

Sincerely,

So there you go! Let us know how the replacement goes.

Water pumps are water pumps - you can put in almost any model and it will fit. No need to stress over getting that exact model. For example, they have ones that are variable speed now, which sounds interesting (haven't tried it myself).
