removing fridge vent

On a recent trip I had rain pouring down into the RV above the fridge, and on returning home found that the roof sealant around the old fridge vent was coming loose. Since I have a compressor fridge, I decided there is really no reason to have a vent anymore. I will build a little ducting at the back of the fridge so the hot and cool air goes in/out the access door instead of up into the fridge compartment. Attaching photo's showing roof after removing everthing. I was able to pull the entire duct out from the roof (there are 2 screws and glue holding it to some wood above the fridge. The ductwork is made from heavy aluminum, so I will cut a piece of that off and make a plate to screw down on the roof and cover the old hole.

The big advantage here is that I'm doubling the amount of cabinet space above the fridge! Will probably have to make a new wood shelf to fill in the old holes.

Also wondering if anyone knows what the metal bracket is hanging off the side of the A/C on the roof? I'm guessing just to deflect air from the A/C to the fridge vent, so I'm thinking of removing that also.

I'm not sure about that bracket specifically, but our trailer has a piece of metal between the AC and the fridge vent to keep hot air from blowing into the fridge vent. I'm guessing that's what the purpose of that thing is, too, but it's definitely more than just the fin ours has.

Our B190 had the same zig-zag piece of sheet metal on the roof between the AC and the refrigerator vent. If you are completely removing the old refrigerator vent, I would remove the piece of sheet metal on the roof too. I feel certain it was intended to block air from the AC backflowing down the refrigerator vent.
