Has anyone replaced our old fan?

Post by fredging »

I have a 1993 B190 and would like to put up a new stronger and quieter fan in the van. Has anyone replaced the original with a new Fantastic Fan or the Maxx fan? Is it an easy replacement?

I think replacing it is fairly easy. I've heard of it being done on trailers inside 15-20 minutes. Getting it sealed correctly is probably the hard part.

I replaced mine with a Turbo Max. It attaches on top of the original vent so you do not have to take out the old one and re-seal. I cut the old fan off of the cross bar with a hack saw and tied in to the existing 12V. You may or may not like the looks from the outside... or the price, but it works great. It is quiet and moves a lot of air. I got the one w/thermostat so that when I leave the dog behind with the AC going it acts as a back-up if the park power fails in the heat. Just don't forget to crank open the vent and leave some windows cracked open...

Has anyone replaced old fan

Post by fredging »

Just had the old fan replaced at Camping World. Bought a Shurflo Gold on sale with free shipping and free installation. They charged $83 for removing old fan which I am disputing, however new fan works great. Moves a large flow of air throughout, has intake and exhaust with variable speed and is very quiet. So I am satisfied except for the trumped up extra charge.

Update that Manager of Camping World, after speaking with customer service, returned the extra charge and apologized for his store as they should not have charged extra for the installation. I guess it pays to go to customer service when you feel wronged. Otherwise the fan and installation are great. A big improvement over the original fan.
