Fantastic Fan stopped working

Post by skater »

So, of course during this incredible heat wave, the Fantastic Fan stopped working.

I suspect it's an electrical problem of some sort: either the switch that stops the fan if you close the lid without shutting it off went bad, or the fuse in the fan blew.

Anyone know anything about these? Such as where that fuse might be? Everything else in the camper is working fine, so I know it's not one of the main circuit fuses...

Hey Skater,
Mine has become temperamental by way of the rocker switch for in or out. I have not pulled the switch yet, but sometimes I need to play with it for the fan to work.

Mine doesn't have that - it's a very base model fan. It has the knob for controlling the speed... and that's it, actually. It doesn't have the motorized open/close feature, either, that I've seen in other Airstreams.

Mine does not have the motorized open close option either, just 3 speeds, a manual open and close knob and a 3 position rocker switch In-nothing-Out. This is the switch that I will either need to replace or perhaps just clean. Currently, I sometimes need to "jiggle' it.

I have had Fan Tastic fans for years. It is one of the best companies that I have ever dealt with. They stand behind thier products like you wouldn't believe. Call them (800) 521-0298 -- (810) 724-3818 and tell them what parts you need and they will send them to you free of charge. I once had a whole fan sent to me to replace an old one which had to many problems to repair. No charge, all I had to do was send my old one back for them to study. Great company !! Good luck

Yeah, I've heard that from others, too. In my case, the fan started working and has worked fine since, so I think the problem is a loose wire somewhere, probably not even within the fan itself.

Don't forget that there is a temperature/thermostat control for the Fantastic Fan as well. Mine ('96) is over the couch beside the light switch for the upper bunk lights. If that is set too high or too low, the Fan turns off on it's own.
