Anyone done a Monroe SA1930 sterring damper install?

Post by Reddeer »

Hello all,

My mechanic and I are in discussions about the frame bracket install. I found a picture on Amazon, but would love to see others if available. My rig is a 1993.

Thanks!

Hey Reddeer, I had a SA1930 installed in Aug. 2010. It improved my handling tremendously. I was having a bad case of wandering and the steering stabilizer fixed most of it.

Tire pressure seems to help some too. I run around 55-60 in front and always 80 in the rear. My local mechanic installed mine in about an hour, and he did have to drill one new mounting hole. Sorry, no pics.

If I had it to do over again, I would not hesitate. I had to hit the shoulder once in Wyoming to avoid an asleep at the wheel ding dong and it made recovery a breeze. Steering is sooo comfortable now. Hope this helps in your decision, happy camping. Bobbyv

Hey thanks bobbyv. What year is your rig?

I did buy the parts. I rechecked the frame today on my 1993, and it looks like I need to drill two holes - the top one on my frame is too near the front to use.

Thanks again.

Hey Reddeer, our B190 is a 99. If you go to the tire and suspension forum about the twelfth post down by Brenda there are some pictures of an installation of the SA1930. Check it out. Good luck.

Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten about that post AND it shows the frame mount on the opposite side of the frame on the 93. I have seen it both ways now! Those pics may have saved my bacon! Thanks.

I don't have that particular stabalizer but I'll be installing mine just as soon as I get the brackets for it.
If it ain't fun - it ain't done!

I bought one but my mechanic says the new shocks are in the way. Anyone want it?

I would recommend installing one if possible. I installed mine myself and I don't understand why it wouldn't fit. The shocks are further back in the van so I don't see how it could interfere with the stabilizer.
