So this is probably a really stupid question, but anybody know where the heck the spare tire jack is hidden!?! Thanks, and I owe you beer if you can help...

Mine didn't have one. I carried a bottle jack, which are fairly inexpensive.

Get yourself a 12 ton bottle jack and make sure you have a deep socket tire iron  it will save you a lot of grief, trust me!!! The bottle jack will stow nicely in the little cabinet under the fridge.

Mine was stored in the compartment behind/underneath the shower where the electrical cord goes.

You all rock. Unfortunately, it appears that my 1991 does not have one. Bummer! I've searched high and low to no avail. Oh well. Strange though, for such a thought out and dialed rig, one would think they would put a jack in there somewhere! Oh well. Thanks team B190!

I have the same question on the 1998 van. Looked around a little today and didn't find the jack or tire iron. If I find it I'll post here and let you know where it was hidden.

In our 1999 with the newer-style bathroom, the jack, jack handle and lug wrench are all with the spare tire accessible through the rear van doors (beneath the new-style bathroom vanity counter top).

That location certainly makes sense. Unfortunately, other than the spare tire, there's no tire equipment in that area on our van. I also don't see any brackets to secure the jack if it was there at one time. Maybe a PO lost/removed the equipment. I looked in the Airstream manual and there's no mention of the jack, etc. The Ford owner's manual refers to a different location that doesn't exist in a B190 since it's been converted to a camper.

Oh well, guess I need to make a trip to a junkyard - maybe I can find what I need. Otherwise I'll go with the bottle jack idea.

Well..... I still haven't found a jack and lug wrench in the van yet. Maybe it's hidden somewhere but I've looked into all the usual places such as under the couch, in closets and cupboards, under the refrigerator, behind the spare tire. Still no jack.

So I'm considering purchasing a bottle jack from Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply or such. I guess I'll buy a deep socket and breaker bar for the lug nuts. I'm not real excited about this approach so if anyone has other ideas please reply.

Thanks

Get the RV service from AAA. They'll change your tires and tow you 100 miles! Cheaper than a jack and wrench (at least for a couple of years)!

That's exactly what I did - half inch socket drive breaker bar with the appropriate socket, and a ratchet to make life a bit easier.

Actually, no, the tools are cheap. The jack is maybe $25, and the sockets/wrenches are probably (I'm guessing, it's been a LONG time) another $25 or $30. One year of AAA RV is about $130, and when you have to call them it can take a while.

Got it. We already have a membership so the add on is only $37. Happy travels!
