Note on bushings for 1989-1991 Ford vans

Post by skater »

I can't confirm this, but I have no reason to doubt it, and there was a request to put it in here where it's easier to search:

From Awesome Possum Van Works and Recreation:
I'm passing on an important FYI to anyone replacing their 1989 (3rd gen in general) Econoline 350 I beam pivot bushings.

Both the Moog K8672 and the MasterPro K8672 show on their spec sheets to have a 0.625 ID (5/8") and should fit. The E350 does in fact use 5/8" bolts to secure the I beams in place and they pass through those bushings.

At least they are supposed to. However I just purchased a set of each, first Moog and then MasterPro and both sets of bushings had 0.54" ID which are too small and the 5/8" bolts will not fit through them.

That means that either product info is wrong on all web sites for both brands and is a major failure coming down from above wherever they write spec sheets at. Anyway DO NOT buy either of those part numbers and expect them to fit. I can only imagine how many frustrated people there are out there who have made this same discovery. It's really frustrating because I installed the Moog set only to find out the data was wrong so I had to press them back out again.

Anyway a good brand and number which specs 5/8" ID and in fact is 5/8" ID is Precision #K8300. They cost over double what the other two brands cost but they fit and are made to correct specs.
