1990 B190 Restoration/Renovation

Post by slapthecat »

I picked up my '90 B190 in Januray 2014 - all appeared well! Soon after, I found that the center rear brake light had been leaking and caused a tremendous amount of damage inside. As I prepared to fix one problem, I'd discover three more. And it snowballed from there…!!!
I took as many pictures as possible - primarily for my own records of how to put things back together (and could have use HUNDREDS more pictures. It always seemed that I missed the picture I need when putting everything back together… *sigh*) - but also as a record of things for anyone else who undertakes these projects.

The interior renovation is pretty much complete - exterior and engine maintenance are just beginning…

Here's the homepage linking to the repair photo albums (as well as a few non-repair related): http://TheTritops.blogspot.com

Great pictures! Looks like you're on the way to having solid van. Seems like these campers are always in need of some repair and you had more than your share. Good Luck!

Great pictures! Looking forward to seeing the completed repairs. I would guess that the pink monkey is a lot of company on trips.

Yikes....that much water damage had to have been created by more than just that upper rear brake
light leaking

What a big project you've taken on there....good luck

Good to see an ole B190 being returned to service rather than just simply deteriorating away...

The rear brake light was the primary source, but pretty much everything that has an opening to the outside (reflectors, vents, etc...) had some degree of leakage - apparently for quite a while by the extent of the damage.
A good part of the work was performed during the Florida rainy season - it was quite the battle getting this thing watertight!!!
