couch locked up

Post by Abie Sea »

Something has happened to the couch mechanism in my 89 B. It used to unlock from the couch configuration and lay down to a bed. Now it will not unlock to form a bed. It is likely something simple in the mechanism, but there is little room to investigate how that mechanism is supposed to operate. Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it?

So you aren't able to lift the lower cushion at this point?

The couch bottom lifts up, but it swings forward and the back stays at the couch angle rather than laying out flat to make up a bed

If the couch bottom lifts up, you can get to the bolts that hold it onto the frame. Taking the bottom cushion off might allow you to see what the hang up is with the mechanism. I have a 1996, my bottom cushion (frame) was held on by 4 bolts, easy peasy.
