I had to replace my converter today. When the tech pulled it out he asked if I had any pets. I told him no, but the person I purchased the rig from may have. He said that the fins on the back were covered with pet hair and when they become clogged the converter will overheat.

Those of you who have pets may want to check the back of the converter and remove any hair that has accumulated.

If interested, the cost was $170.

What kind of converter did you put in it?

The converter was original equipment - B-W Manufacturers, Inc. - Model 6332.

There is a person in the area who repairs RV's and was able to get an exact replacement. He collects the old converters and once a year he goes to Kentuckey where a friend repairs them.

The type I have is rare and unless you can find a refurbished one you have to go to one of the newer converters. Parts are still available for the older converters.

The newer ones require some electrical work to get them to operate.
