Squeeky Belt

My Serpentine belt squeeks when I start my engine. It doesn't last long, but it is getting worse.

Is this just a belt that needs to be tightened, (and can I do this myself) or is it a sign it needs to be replaced. Upon looking at the belt, it looks in good condition, and no dry-rot, but I'm not a professional.

I would suspect an old/worn belt first. I think (it's been a while) that we don't have to adjust the tension; we have a tensioner that does the job. If I remember correctly to remove the belt you just have to pull the tensioner over with a breaker bar or ratchet - not loosen or tighten anything.

Another possibility: an accessory's bearings are going, causing it to have more drag than it should, causing the belt to slip.
