Interior remodel

Thought I would share some pics of my recent rework of the interior on my 91. Purchased this van a little over a year ago and it needed a lot of work. After a new engine and trans I decided to rework the interior to fit our needs. We never used the oven and the shower had a big hole in it so I ripped them out. After redoing the plumbing I built my own shower pan, put up frp panels, new shower curtain track and a new vent fan. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I mountain bike often and want to be able to put two bikes in the van and still have a shower so the bike mount is next on the list. Also put a propane quick connect fitting on the backside of the fridge so if we want to cook outside we will use our camping stove.

Oh, that's interesting. I'm working on something similar if you look at the last few posts in my restoration thread.

Seaquinn,

Very nice, and what I'm going to be doing to mine. A few questions if you don't mind. How difficult was it to remove the old shower enclosure? I'm keeping the refrigerator cabinet (mines a 96, refer is on the d side), is the enclosure glued to that panel? The vent, is that to the grey tank or the black tank? I'm replacing the stock toilet with a natures head composting model and deleting the black tank, so if that's a black tank vent I'll be able to delete that piping also.

Again, very nice and extremely timely from my perspective.

Just took another closer look at the pics, how are you routing the shore power cable outside? Through the genny cabinet?

The shower enclosure wasn’t too bad. It had a few screws and it was glued on the backside but I was able to pull it away. The enclosure is somewhat flexible but I ended up cutting it in a few spots to make it easier. I wasn’t sure how the drain was attached so I cut around that because I knew I was ripping out the plumbing anyways. The shower drains to the gray tank I believe. So that vent is necessary to prevent hydro lock. That’s why I just tucked it away in the corner so I could keep the pan as low as possible. I have the shore power cable tucked behind the couch and I have a hole in the side panel next to the shower pan so I can route the cable out that when needed. I don’t often camp where I use shore power so I wasn’t too concerned with that.

Thinking of using this stuff, wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

lwrider,

Did the oven enclosure unscrew and come out, or did you have to demo it? I need to pull the wall panel behind the sofa and replace that, thinking if the oven enclosure is easy to remove I might as well pull that entire side off the van and put the FRP up all at once.

Ya the oven was pretty easy to remove if I recall correctly. Just some screws and disconnect the propane lines

Any idea the distance from the outside van wall to the toilet in these pics?

BTW, nice clean look inside, though the wood worker in me shudders at painting over solid oak.
