Toilet problems

I have a '91 and it has the double pedal Thetford Toilet.
It worked fine for a few weeks and then.......
I filled the water tank and left for a 5 day trip. On the third day water started leaking just above where the water feed pipe joins the toilet. I made it through the week by pouring water into the toilet.
Do I have to pull the toilet to do a repair?

Sounds like that valve is sticky...

I've had to tinker with one of those but its been quite awhile. That one liked to leak when hooked to city water pressure

The valve in the picture is operated by the foot pedal as I remember.

Pump off, let the water pressure off and remove the connector, the gray plastic piece there at top of plastic tubing with the 4 lumps on it there in this picture

Try taking out those 2 phillips screws to see if the valve comes off (downward)....it may not depending on how its hooked to the foot control....if thats a problem there are just a pair of 1/4 nuts (7/16 wrench) to lift the unit completely off

In addition...Thetford send me a brand new one no charge, the entire toilet due to some kinda Recall....don't remember the details, seems like I had to give them a model number or something...ya might try that...!

Thanks Alaskan
That's it. I couldn't feel or see the screws. Now that i know where they are I'll pull the valve and see if I can repair it.

Well I got the new water valve installed and the toilet works good as new.
Thanks for your advice Alaskan. Most of the screws are hidden from view until the toilet is removed and stood on it's top.
The new valve came with an excellent set of installation instructions.
