Fuel Mileage for 7.5L V8 and 6.8L V10?

Hello All,

DW and I are former Airstreamers. We had a`79 Classic 31 TT. We are now fulltimers and snowbirds with 36ft HitchHiker 5W.

Due to physical limitations resulting from injuries, the set-up and travel prep for the 5W have now become difficult so we are considering parking the 5W for April - Oct in Alberta and buying park model RV for Oct - April in Arizona.

We are thinking a B190 would be ideal for the trips north and south each spring and fall, short tours of a week or two duration and also serve as our daily driver.

As our current `07 Sierra Crew Cab with 8.1L Big Block isn`t exactly a fuel miser we are used to 10 - 15 MPG solo and would think a B190 would be comparable. We would appreciate hearing what average MPG owners of B190s with 7.5L V8 and 6.8L V10 usually get.

Thanks

GJ

My 1991 7.5l gets 10 miles on a good day, and a little less when I'm pulling the motorcycle trailer.

I could get around 10 mpg with the 7.5L during "normal" driving. If I was extra cautious, and the wind cooperated, I could get 12 mpg or so with it.

While towing a car, the lowest I ever got with it was about 8 mpg, and that was from scaling the mountains on I-68 in western Maryland.

9.5-12mpg is about all I have managed, but I drive in Nevada, California, and Utah, which means Mountains and long upgrades. The weight and wind resistance are the big factor with the B190. Its just a big fat lumbering pig on the road, not a sports car.
