Sorry for the quiet...
Sorry for the quietness, everyone!
I've been preoccupied with some issues with my non-driveable house. Basically, water is getting into my ductwork (which is under the house) during heavy rains, causing mold issues among other problems. Turns out the property has an incredibly high water table for some reason, so now I'm looking at getting the HVAC unit moved into the attic with all new ducting and registers installed, and if that's successful I plan to seal off the old ducts entirely.
And people think campers have complicated problems!
How is everyone's spring going? Getting in the campers?

Its a 1991 RJ (as noted above the first picture the year of each rig).... that rig I actually purchased new, it has 40k miles on it currently.
At its first tire change I changed to the Ford 9" wide wheels to use the Michelin XPS Rib tires and with that came the new style wheel covers...
Rig #5 didn't make the pictures as yet as its enroute from Florida....

Unfortunately. I'd like to drum up more support and enthusiasm for the site...Alaskan wrote:do you get the feeling we're the only ones here ??
Both of those have only 7 lug nuts, but mine has 8. I'd rather go with those, I like them better...OR...here's 2 options:

your right...I hadn't noticed that but I don't have a degree in statistics
The old style hubcaps do have 8 fake lug nuts displayed on them where the new style have 7 displayed....Ford saved a few bucks that way I guess
I hadn't noticed that my pictures had widened the page, usually 640x480 doesn't do that....

So the 7 hubcap will fit over the 8 lugnuts?Alaskan wrote:The old style hubcaps do have 8 fake lug nuts displayed on them where the new style have 7 displayed....Ford saved a few bucks that way I guess
It may not have. But I find page-widening to be REALLY annoying so I grabbed a quick mod to install to fix it. Seems to be working pretty well, too, and it fails gracefully on browsers that don't support it.I hadn't noticed that my pictures had widened the page, usually 640x480 doesn't do that....

Nice Lineup/Baaad furnace
Hi Skater, just wanted to say something about a furnace in the attic. I have one and hate it. It's really a pain to go up every year and change filters, not to mention the fact that the filter gets a lot dirtier than in a ground level unit, and it lets you know right away by the amount of dust that collects in the house if you are not on top of changing filters. I am in the process of building a new garage which is 24' wide x 36' long. It's going to be two levels with a clear span bottom floor and a 2nd floor that can be converted into a two bedroom apt. The builder wanted to put the HVAC unit in the attic and no way was that going to happen so it's going into a utility room or mechanical room on the ground level next to a bathroom so I can get at the filters. anyway just wanted to give you my input.
Alaskan, boy what a lineup of vans and they all look brand new, I guess I will either have to try and get the compound out and buff or get a new paint job so I don't feel like a crud if I run into a van like what you are showing. No, you are not alone on this site as I check in most days but really don't have alot to say but need to learn alot so I read most all posts. You know the old adage about keeping the mouth shut and ears open, I try to learn and listen to you guys that know what is happening and one day might be able to help with others problems.
Both of you, have a nice day.

Re: Nice Lineup/Baaad furnace
In my house the attic is pretty easily accessible - it seems I'm up there frequently anyway (I did some wiring and some insulation). If they mount the furnace near the steps it won't be bad at all, though it will be harder than it is now and I fear I'm going to lose some efficiency from the furnace (it'll no longer be in a conditioned space).craigmar wrote:Hi Skater, just wanted to say something about a furnace in the attic. Unfortunately, I just don't see another option - there's really nowhere else to put it.

Oh, yeah, I definitely agree. If I'd realized they fit I'd have gotten a set years ago.
Hmm...matte for $69 or bright chrome for $89. I can't decide but I'm leaning to the chrome ones (which, of course, are the more expensive )...
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the estimate for moving my HVAC came in: $6850. I do not have $7000 to spend on it now, so I'll just cope with the problem until someday I'm flush with cash and can better afford it...
