design flaw in closet rod: need REMEDY

Post by okaynagan »

Most disappointing to discover that the closet rod is held in by two screws secured only to very thin "plywood" that airstream used as underlayment material. It has no structural integrity. It couldn't possibly hold up to the load the closet rod would need to just hold clothes. Perhaps it's only in the 1995 model this design flaw exist.

The screws could be longer to embed in the metal of the coach chassis, there is no way to tell. There is a very real fear of hitting something electrical if one attempts to drill through the van wall.

Have any of you enthusiasts to come up with a remedy for this problem?

very carefully drilled into the metal of the van and replaced the two screws with longer ones. it does seems solid now.
